One year ago, the Lost Boy Collective officially began its journey, and what a year it has been! As we look back on the incredible projects we’ve had the privilege to work on, there are a few that stand out, not only as defining moments for our team but also as the jobs that set the tone for everything we’ve accomplished since.
The job that launched the Lost Boy Collective and it has to be up there with our very favourite pieces. Writing a brand-protest song from scratch for our first ever independent project might have seemed a daunting task. But for the team at Lost Boy it represented an opportunity to convey our ability to nail a killer pastiche and write seamless original lyrics for our clients. The free-love attitude and consummate professionalism of the Isobel team made this project such a pleasure, and have cemented Isobel as one of our biggest clients.
Another key project came later in the year with the brilliant team at Iris. Amid a veritable whirlwind of work, this job represented the challenge of working with a brand-new creative agency - and our connection with the team was immediately apparent. After helping the creatives hone their brief, we set to work on a cornucopia of demos (which you can check out here) one of which, turned out to be one of the most dreamy, poetic, and singular pieces of music we’ve made so far.
Another standout project was our inaugural collaboration with the Mullenlowe team, led by the brilliant Creative Directors Bronwyn and Loren. Tasked with creating a folk-inspired cover of a Christmas song on a super tight turnaround, we worked closely with the guys to craft something simple, joyful, and beautiful. After an energizing call, we narrowed down an expansive reference playlist to three client-approved songs - which served as stylistic guides for our demos. The result was a heartfelt, festive track that we think perfectly captured the brief and elevated the campaign.
One of our most challenging and rewarding projects this year was Jack Daniel’s for Iris, featuring UK songwriter and composer Wesley Joseph. The brief required a single bespoke track to fit two films: a languid hip-hop backbeat for Wesley’s voiceover and a high-energy drum and bass score for a chase scene. With a playlist of references from artists like Flying Lotus and Sampha, we focused on crafting one perfect track that Wesley himself would feel confident releasing. Finding a tempo to work across both sections was tricky, but we drew on jazz influences, soulful vocals, and piano melodies to create a seamless transition into the energetic DnB drop. Despite our nerves sending just one demo, Wesley’s glowing approval made this ambitious project a proud achievement.

Here’s to a year of incredible milestones, amazing clients who believe in us, and creative adventures that have pushed us to grow in ways we never imagined. From brand-protest songs and Christmas folk covers to crafting tracks for Wesley Joseph and Jack Daniel’s, it’s been a whirlwind of challenges, laughs, and proud moments. We couldn’t have done it without the brilliant teams we’ve had the privilege to work with—and the trust they’ve placed in us.
Thank you for being part of the Lost Boy journey. We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes us!
